Camp Wanake

About Our Camp

How How from Camp Wanake, a year-round Christian camp and retreat center that has served guests with excellence since 1946. Wanake is owned and operated by the East Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church and is one of three Methodist camps in East Ohio. In addition to the traditional "small group" camping (pioneered at Wanake over 60 years ago), the camp now offers a host of other specialty camping opportunities.

But summer camp is only half of the story of the current Wanake. Wanake hosts large and small retreat and specialty groups year round and now schedules events for families and groups throughout the year. In addition, Wanake runs a horse program called The Wanake Ranch that operates through summer camp and year round.

"Wanake" (pronounced Wah' na kee) is taken from the first syllables of a Native American phrase that means "A beautiful spiritual place among the hills."  This is an apt description of the camp's rolling woods and lakes. We believe that God, indeed, can be found here.
