  Year One

In The Beginning

First Message from Cade:

Hi everyone!  Guess I’m just like my dad, I couldn’t wait until November so I decided to come see the world now.  They say I  have some more growing to do so I have my own little room here in the NICU.  That’s me and Grandma Carstens below.

They do everything here for me so all I have to do is sleep.  Heck, if I don’t feel like breathing they do that for me.  They feed me, turn me, tuck me in and change me.

I have a whole bunch of ladies called nurses that take care of my every little need.  Let’s see, my primary nurses are Amy, Vicki and Jennifer during the day and Nancy, Susie and Michelle at night.  Dad says “Way to go, get the women fighting over you at a young age!”  They are all very nice and they take wonderful care of me!  The doctors and therapists are doing a great job also!

I’m also not allowed to wear much yet. Here’s my wardrobe below – a diaper and a blood pressure cuff.  My diaper size is Wee Pee’s size 2 – not bad for a 2.1 pounder!

The other day, I had this really wonderful thing happen, I got to be held by Mommy and Grandma for a few minutes.  Boy did that feel great.  My heart rate went way down and I just tried to stare at Mommy.  Grandma rocked me and I fell asleep!  I really loved it, I hope that happens some more.

Well, this has been enough for a little guy like me.  It’s time to go back to sleep.  Thanks to Uncle Chris for the great web site and Grandpa Fred for the pictures.  Until November!!!

Love, Cade
