October 25, 2006

First of all, sorry that this is late. I have had a busy week!

Monday, I was supposed to go cut my hair, but I canceled because a few Belge friends invited me to Liege to go with them to the fair (even though I had all ready gone with the exchange students.)

But anyway, I got out at twelve o'clock to go have a small meeting for the exchange students of Verviers with the Burgemest of the town. There we walked around the town hall. He gave a little speech. Lauren, the Australian, gave a little speech. Then we all got a book of paintings showing the town in the old days. Then, we all signed a paper -- really it was like a thank-you card. Then we all went to the stairs and the Rotarians (all but one who took pictures with each exchange student’s camera, lol) and the Burgemest and the exchange students took a really big photo.

Tuesday, I usually have a two-hour communications class then a free period. Well not today. Madame Deroche wasn't there, so I had three hours of free time. Then religion class and my day was finished because when the school does bulletins (report cards) we have no school - different. Then my host mother and I searched her closet for clothes for Friday, the 20th anniversary of the club. Finally we settled on a blue top and black pants. Oh and I had steak for dinner!! Not cooked like back home but still was really good!!

Wednesday I also finished at noon, because every Wednesday I finish at noon. Nothing really happened besides my host mother explaining the washer and dryer. Oh so difficult. Then I helped my sister with her homework for religion. They’re studying the Baptist religion and well I'm Baptist and so they were having a test the next day so I studied with her.

Thursday, my sister woke me up around seven in the morning to tell me that she was ready to study, lol. I had told her that we could review a little bit in the morning if she wanted me to. So guess what I did? Got my butt out of bed and helped my little sister. Reminded me of home really – helping my sister. My host father took us to school. We didn’t have a Rotary meeting because of Friday’s events. Then I went on a really long walk and that was pretty much Thursday.

Friday, school finished early -- no gym. That made me oh so happy. I don’t like that class. After school I went to the place of harmony parc to help set up for the evening. It was so beautiful. Samira, Claudia and I decorated the wall of flags while the Rotarians set the tables. Then, after we were finished, I caught the bus home to change and jump in the shower. Chantal and Jean-Pierre both arrived at the same time, so they hurried and changed and we all went back together. It was really expensive for Rotarians. All the exchange students got together for photo shots, lol. Then for supper -- it was oh so nasty. I have no idea even what it was but I really didn’t like the first course. The lamb was ok. The sauce wasn’t that great. But the desert was a strawberry cake. Now that was good, lol! But that’s me -- what can I say? When we were completely finished with the food, one of the exchange students said it was a little after midnight. I realized it was Chantal’s birthday, so I gathered the exchange students and we all went and sang happy birthday. It was cute... around 1:30 Claudia and I left with Chantal. Jean-Pierre returned around 4 -- I think I heard him come in.

Saturday, Chantal and Jean-Pierre worked, but at suppertime everyone gave Chantal the gifts -- from candles to silverware to pens. So then Pierre went to the races and Jean-Pierre and I went to the Pepinsters (the city basketball team) game. We won, heheh!!! And there’s Americans on the team. One day I may talk to them, lol.

Sunday, we really didn’t do anything. Pierre and I watched the Grand Prix from Brazil and Scott Speed -- for those who don’t know him, he’s an awesome American racer -- came in 11th. He wasn’t very happy about that, but oh well. Then the Rotary Jean-Louis and his wife came over for diner. It was really good and funny -- chicken and fries -- a weird combination for me but it was good. Chantal made tomatoes and cooked them with a bunch of seasonings and herbs, but I didn’t try them.

Monday -- I really didn’t do anything.

Tuesday was a good day, lol. School is school. Then after school, Laura and I were playing around when she came back from tennis. Chantal took Pierre to tennis practice but before she left she said that I had gotten a package today and that she had to pay $10 dollars to get it. I don’t understand why, but ok. So Pierre, Laura and I we all went into my room. My mom sent my shoes and my other camera. But everything in the box was filled with Halloween candy, hehe, and peanut butter!!!! and ranch dressing!! Then Pierre called after leaving and told me and Laura to hurry and get dressed because Jean-Pierre was on his way home to get us so we could all go to dinner!! We went to the Maison Bois. I had a salad that was completely huge and for once didn’t finish it. But it was oh so good, and the place was so beautiful. It’s got a place inside where they have tennis practice and when Pierre finished practice he joined us.

Wednesday -- today I am having dinner with my counselor’s family. I finished school today at 12. I love that, lol. And I leave for London on Saturday!!
