Rotary,
This will be my last letter while in Belgium -- it’s horrible to say.
Since I last contacted you, we have done a tour with Rotary of the Providence of Liege, "My home town," and then, with my family, I went to Bouillon -- very cool.
So for the last two weeks, I was changing between my first host family and my second because my family went to Mexico to visit their son. In those two weeks, I went to my first communion {I'm not catholic -- it was weird} but it was fun. It’s an experience that you won’t forget. And then this past weekend, we did the famous Rotary Talent Show. I played Baby Spice from the Spice Girls with a Canadian, a new Zealander, and 2 Ecuadorians. That was fun -- me in pigtails. We practice all day Thursday and Friday and Saturday morning and Saturday evening we presented it for Rotary and our host families.
And now I have five weeks left. It’s horrible to think about leaving my new families and my friends, but its part of the experience. So, I am in school just to the 9th and the 9th through the 20th I’m going to Portugal with two other exchange students!! I'm so excited. And since Christmas I have been taking a French class in the evening and I have passed all three of my exams in the three classes, so I will be getting a certificate in French!! That’s so cool for me.
And here on the 28th they have their "prom" rheto ball. So I get to go. And also our District Conference is coming up. "Don't think it’s like ours back home." -- but still. And then I cut all of my hair off as a summer birthday gift to myself. Besides the fact that its Belgium and it rains almost everyday and you can’t use a umbrella because the wind breaks them. So it’s pointless.
Well just wanted to say thanks for an awesome year and unfortunately I will be debarking from here really soon {sooner than I would like to return to Hicksville} So I guess I will see everyone soon.
And there is a song I think All Outbound Students should know, because its about us...
Imagine by the Beatles
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
See Everyone Really Soon
