I got to Kosice safe and sound. My family is really nice and everything is going well. I met some of the other exchange students in Newark and we got along great. Boy it was a long trip though, I saw Greenland from the plane and thought we were already over England, boy was I wrong!!!

The houses here go more upwards than outwards. They don’t have very big yards and the walls of the houses are close together. A lot of people have gardens out in the country. I went with my family and the grandparents to help pick plums in the grandma’s garden. School starts Sept 2.

We were going to stop at the zoo today but first we went riding on toboggans. My host sister, who is 11, is very brave. She wanted to ride with me on the toboggan and I let her control the speed. We hit a stone on the slide and fell off. I was ok but she got a big cut on her chin, so I saw the hospital instead of the zoo. My host dad said that it was typical, that Stanka, my sister, has very little fear and so she sometimes has accidents. She is doing fine now, still bouncing around the house and teaching me Slovak!
