Every year more than 7000 students learn about the world in a unique manner. Instead of studying the culture, history and accomplishments of a society in school, they immerse themselves in the day-to-day life of the country. They live the culture and gain a deeper understanding of both themselves and the world.
As these young people become adults, many become leaders in their communities and bring the benefits of their world-view to these positions. As a result the Rotary Exchange program is a powerful force in the promotion of tolerance and peace throughout the world.
Rotary Youth Exchange Program is open to any student with good character and academic performance. Rotary seeks mature students in good academic standing who are involved in their school and community. Most students choose to participate after graduation although the exchange program is open to students between the age of 15 and 18½ at the time of exchange (generally mid-August). The exchange program is for one full year.
