Butterfly Blossoms

by Amy S. Pierce

I subsist in a confined dungeon
Every day, I huddle into my claustrophobic corner
While silently screaming for freedom
Through these impermeable walls of terror.
In this paralyzed state, I cannot fit into artistic armor
Frozen passions are buried in my mottled mind
Waiting to be defrosted and penetrated through my heart's crevice
I am diminished to a debilitating existence
Hypnotized by repetitive rules and demanding duties.
I am infiltrated with iconoclastic and deceitful creatures
With their critical and negative natures.
If I do not flee from this perilous place, I will simply perish
I crave for the imaginative icing upon my creative cake,
And to devour every precious piece that I can partake
For this is my one true wish.
I must feed my artistic ardor
And brazenly break away from this mangled mania
Before I transform into a tyrannical troll.
I must soar on butterfly wings
To see the beauty that life brings
I need to be released from the sheltering shackles
Which covet the seeds of prosperity
To remove the brash barriers which block my path
And surge forth with courage by vanquishing this wraith.
I cannot wait a single hour to begin climbing this theatrical tower
I must perform my talents by acting at once
No time for one last dress rehearsal
In order for me to win, the show must begin
And when the cryptic cocoon does awaken
A magical metamorphosis takes center stage
When life is ready to turn its page
For a new creation is born
And no longer will I mourn
What I left behind.
It is ruinous rubble
Never to leave its blundering bubble
I no longer crouch in fear
For the time is here
To spread my wings
And find beauty in whatever life brings
I will soar through the land
Without regiment or command
I have finally reached my destiny's outcome
And for this, I am so proud
I can scream out loud
For I am now a butterfly blossom.
So happy and free
This is the way my life was meant to be.
