little kindnesses
by Derek Kittle love breathes in fantasybut it eats the mundane
soft
open
free
the days make me forget
as if in an opium eater's trance
who are we?
how did things get this way?
let us try to wake
i'll go first
i'll open up my soft white belly
vulnerable to your attack
in return
i only ask for little kindnesses
think of me
what would i like to do
where would i like to go
the best present is for no reason
just think of me a little
when you think of you
