Meet Katherine West
Editor-in-chief and owner of Writers Haven: Writing Jobs and Resources
A little bit about Kat
I am married and a college student majoring in both English and Journalism, who is raising two beautiful daughters, while I juggle a full-time freelance career. Katherine lives in a small town in North Eastern Ohio. Most people are surprised when they find out what a geek I am! They are also surprised that a geek can write poetry. I can do ALMOST anything on a PC or with the written word.
Her Work
Katherine West is a freelance author that is published both in print and extensively on the Internet. She has been featured on Fitness Heaven and Life Smart Solutions. She is also a regular contributor to Fitness Heaven, Lesson Tutor, Survivor's Haven, Time for Fitness, and Artrageous Woman. Katherine's work is included in poetry anthologies from Cader Publishing and she has also been sold articles to Pagewise, Rainy Day Corner, and her work will soon be appearing in Ednoland in coming weeks.
Douglas Eby from CreativityandWomen.com has interviewed Katherine, and links to some of her work appears on the Talent Development Resources web site. Her poetry can be found on Poet's Haven at her Writer's Haven site and at the following sites: Muses and Moments, Ohiozine, Harvest-Art.com, We Love Writers, Better Karma, Artrageous Woman from the Women in the Arts Network, The International Library of Poets- Poetry.com, and may soon be appearing in an anthology from P*ssed Off Poets.
Katherine is the editor and owner of Writers Haven (http://www.writershaven.net)- a zine for the writer in all of us. She also publishes The Write Site Newsletter (http://www.the-write-site.com)- where writers find jobs. This is a writer's market resource with links to thousands of top freelance jobs every two weeks. Although Katherine writes about a wide variety of subjects, her first love is poetry. Read her poetry here.
Current Projects:
I have completed my first book of poems; I just need to get it to an agent for publication. My ADD-ADHD book is 2/3 of the way complete, and I am mid-way through an ebook project, involving Making Money on the Internet-- Job and Contest sites for writers.
Biggest Heroes
My biggest heroes are my Grandmother and my Mom; they are now both deceased. These two fantastic ladies were the ones who molded me into the woman that I am today. They were both strong role models from whom I learned all that I now know.
Things I don't like
Snobby arrogant people turn me off. I think everyone is unique and special. People that are hypocrites make my blood boil! Injustice is another thing I can not tolerate. I have always felt that being fair to our fellow man is essential. I believe a person have who is mean to everyone is much more honest than a person who is nice to only a select few (those who happen to be in a "particular" social class); it is these people that we must watch out for in the world.
Things I Like
I like honesty and good literature and honesty in good literature. *Smile*
Favorite Quote:
What doesn't kill us makes us stronger-- Nietszche
I agree with this quote! People who don't learn from their misfortune or never experience hardship can't grow. If everything in the world was always perfect, wouldn't we all be rather boring?
What I look for in other people:
I look for a good heart, open mind, and a kind soul.
