Well, the meaning of life can not be put into simple words, a simple paragraph, or a simple answer, for that matter. I suppose you could say that it begins with existence, but then again, you don't live to exist, you exist to live.
Well, here's what I came up with.
There is no simple meaning of life, however, life is what you make of it. I suppose that you can bring meaning to life...in a sense. You see, life can pass by within the blink of an eye. However, it's not the span of your life, but what you do to fill your life with meaning. I suggest reading "The Chosen" to better understand what I'm trying to say. Then ask yourself how the main characters brought meaning into their lives. Very interesting.
Anywho, as I've said before, I can not answer your question, but perhaps I've helped. Cheers mate, and be safe ;)

I'm assuming you're not asking the definition of what life is, but rather why it is.
If we're to assume that there is a scientific explanation for how the universe or universes came into existence and how life began, there is no meaning. All we can do is create a purpose for ourselves beyond mindlessly reproducing...although that's the most fun purpose. Some just keep themselves busy, try to make the most money and die in the most comfortable and luxurious way they can. Others just have fun. Still others let curiosity drive them, trying to work out how we got to be here, etc etc. On the other hand, if life wasn't an accident, then the meaning, or
purpose, is what the Creator says it is...and our best source of information on that is whatever your particular religion regards as scripture. As a Christian, my understanding is that God created the heavens and the earth, and man in his image, and sacrificed his only begotten Son to give us a way back to Him. He gave us warnings about what would jeopardise our happiness here and our return to Him. Jesus gave us instruction too, telling us our purpose was to "be ye therefore perfect, as your father in heaven is perfect" (obviously knowing we couldn't, which is why he made up the difference for us), and telling us to love God, each other and ourselves.

Not much of an answer, but I remember hearing someone grieving ask, "Why do people die?" The answer they received was, "To give life meaning." Food for thought.

Stu:  The meaning to life is something that is like life itself. It happens all the time. It happens weather you want it to or not. It takes no effort. It happened before you were born and will continue long after you are gone. And if you think about it, it really is life.
The meaning to life is to learn.

The person you are with now should be better (higher on your ladder) than the person you were last with. Okay it's not perfect but if you have no direction in life, trying to fuck hotter and hotter chicks or richer and richer guys is as good a place as any to start... website
