Where do magnets come from?

WERE DO MAGNETS COME FROM? ARE THEY FOUND IN THE
GROUND OR ARE THEY MADE?
C.H.U.D. sent us this response:
When magnetism was first discovered it was in a
naturally occurring mineral called magnetite. Magnetite is found in
the ground and is magnetic, of course. Most magnets you would find
on a refrigerator or hard drive, however, are man-made and usually
consist of metal alloys or ceramics.
Todd came up with this:
Magnets can be found in earth. That's where they
were originally discovered. These days magnets can be made in labs.
Magnets can also be made using electricity. Magnets can be natural
but most are man made.
