The MTV Music Video Awards

First of all, I don't think MTV could have chosen a worse host than Chris Rock. Every time he went to announce the next announcers, he would somehow degrade the person who last received an award. Other than the host and Marylin Manson, the show was fairly cool.

Instead of thanking people like everyone else does, Fiona Apple(she's like a girl you would find in a gutter if she hadn't made some hit songs) told the audience how important it was to just be yourself and live you life the way you want to. She said you shouldn't dress, act, or want to be like someone else(generally that she wasn't a role model for others to follow). She announced all of this very seriously and forcefully. I completely agree with her statement. In fact I'm really sick of people changing their lives(for the worst) because they have to be popular. They end up in the wrong crowd and end up doing things that they never would have before if they hadn't been pressured by their peers.

Somewhere in there, she made an important quote from Maya Angelou. Chris Rock could not resist this opportunity to take full advantage of her. In his little monologue, he said something like: Hey, can you believe this? What's that little white girl doing quoting Maya Angelou? Fiona Apple? More like Fiona X! This exemplifies how moronic he is. He totally degraded her meaningful point with his small, stupid remark.

Later on, you could see how disheveled Fiona was when she appeared to announce nominees for another award. She just laughed and acted like things didn't matter, but you could see the frustration in her eyes.

I had no idea what Marylin Manson's(I don't know or care if that is spelled right) position on religion was before the awards. But now, I know, and there is no way I will ever listen to his music again.

On a lighter note, Madonna asked for everyone to boycott tabloids. Lately, a lot of celebrities have been saying how horrible they are. I agree with them. I have never bought a tabloid in my life, and I never will. Although I did once read an article in one. But in it I could see how much they twisted the truth. Tabloids are just plain dumb.

Well, that's my review. If you want to comment about or bash anything I said, e-mail me.
